Before the race riots in Rosewood, Florida, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Atlanta, Georgia – many blacks were killed or run out of Wilmington, North Carolina. In fact historians say what happened on November 10, 1898 sparked the violent white supremacist movement in the South. Today, Wilmington is a popular tourist town with pockets of new development springing up. Many people say they hope a new report on the race riot will help atone for what happened. Leoneda Inge reports.
