Heart disease kills more people in North Carolina than anything else. Blacks have higher rates of the disease than whites, and blacks are more likely to die younger from it. There's a regional disparity too- the death rate from heart disease in eastern North Carolina is about 18% higher than the rate in the rest of the state. A health project in eastern North Carolina is trying to close these gaps by reaching African Americans through their faith. Yasmeen Khan prepared this report.
