Nurses Fight Poverty

One of the most vexing problems facing society is how to help families break the cycle of poverty. Turns out, part of the solution may involve nurses. There’s a program that uses nurses to teach at-risk moms parenting skills. For 30 years, the Nurse Family Partnership has shown strong results. Only one North Carolina county has had the program – Guilford. But now it’s expanding to seven more counties around the state. Rose Hoban reports.
