This year, as always, migratory waterfowl have made their way to the Northeastern part of North Carolina. At Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge biologists report a record number of snow geese came to spend their winter in and around Pungo lake. The birds are at the center of a long-running controversy over an airstrip planned by the Navy a few miles away. A coalition of opponents says the presence of noisy jets around the clock will disrupt the wildlife, their way of life and pose a hazard to pilots. Rose Hoban has this report.
