There are so many factors weighing against young Latinos considering college that a recent report warns that for every 100 Latinos in kindergarten today, only 11 will get a bachelor's degree. But some kids do make it. Drive and determination, and being born in the United States with the full rights of citizenship, can put them on a level playing field with their peers. As part of our series "North Carolina Voices: Considering College" Paul Cuadros has this story.

Additional Information Mentioned in this Report:
- Neither the college enrollment nor completion rates of Latinos have increased over the last 20 years in the U-S. About half of Latino young people enroll in college, but few finish. If these rates don't change, the Education Trust warns that "out of every 100 Latino kindergartners today, only 11 will obtain a bachelor's degree." Read more here
- Ten percent of Hispanics in the United States finish a college degree by the time they are in their mid to late 20s. Read more here
