UPDATE/CORRECTION: Several hours after this story aired, the News and Observer of Raleigh offered buyouts to 40 percent of its employees. Also, the story stated that G.D. Gearino took a buyout from the N&O last year. In fact, he did not take a buyout, but left the paper voluntarily.
