Wright Responds

Not that he returned MY calls, of course....but New Hanover Dem Thomas Wright did talk to WHQR's Cat Welch Friday afternoon about Mark Schreiner's story in the Wilmington Star-News. Wright says it's "ridiculous." He says both the story and the State Elections Board investigation that inspired it are products of a conspiracy against him by other state democrats. To wit:
"I guess I'm supposed to be a good ol' boy, and just go along with it, and do what they tell me. Well, the people of my district expect more, and have always expected me to vote my conscience, vote my convictions and do the right thing."

Of course, the conspiracy theory doesn't explain why Wright failed to disclose as much as 119 thousand dollars in donations on his campaign finance reports. But then, who's counting, besides Mark Schreiner?
