Two-term Rep Ty Harrell (D-Wake) resigned his House seat yesterday. According to the two-page letter he sent to Speaker Joe Hackney, Harrell felt he couldn’t adequately serve his constituents while under two investigations into his use of campaign money for questionable expenses. Charlotte’s Mark Johnson has more details, plus reaction from Hackney.
The N&O’s Ben Niolet had a great story Sunday on one of the weirdest bills of the past legislative session – H291, the hair-braiding bill. As is so often the case, there’s a political story buried in the fine print.
Rep. Rick Glazier (D-Cumberland) got more bills passed this year than any other NC lawmaker, according to an analysis by the Insider, recapped at the Fay-O.
