Courtesy of the AP's Gary Robertson, here's the sin tax package figures being presented to the House and Senate Dems in caucus today:
Cigarettes: 10 cents more per pack
Other Tobacco Products: 2.8% tax increase
Beer: 8/10ths of a cent per can
Wine: 4 cents per bottle
Liquor: a 5% increase in the excise tax
This probably went over pretty well in the Senate, which is more inclined toward sin taxes in general. But can Hackney sell it to the House? We'll find out. Stay tuned!
