House members are on their dinner break till 8.
So far, they've passed a whole slew o' bills, including
H 973, requiring equal insurance coverage for mental health care (except substance abuse)
H 1737, requiring the disclosure of contributors to legal defense funds
H 1707, allowing detention officers to carry guns in court
They defeated H 1662, a proposal to ease the reporting requirements for small campaign donations.
Plenty more action coming up after the break, when they'll take up eminent domain, the bully bill, the spanking bill, the torture bill, and the Racial Justice act. More later on that.
On the Senate side, they passed:
S 132, an omnibus child protection bill requiring parental permission for MySpace and barring sex offenders from using it or other social networking sites frequented by children. Also bars sex offenders from changing their names, and makes it a felony to lie to the SBI
S 1363, making DA elections non-partisan statewide
S 948, allowing the sale of raw milk
Lots more there, too. They threw a few extra bills onto the calendar, but still managed to wrap it up and head home by 6:25.
