Update on Carney

As of 8:00pm, the official word is that Rep. Becky Carney is in "stable but serious condition" at WakeMed. Doctors say what she experienced was not a heart attack, exactly, but an arrhythmia that led to "afibrial event" - basically, cardiac arrest. So the defibrillator at the legislature probably saved her life, thanks to the quick response of Dr. Bob England and the Capitol NCGA (General Assembly) police.
Sources who were at WakeMed say her family is there with her, and that she's alert and talking. There's also word that doctors may implant a mini-defibrillator tomorrow. Please keep her in your thoughts - I know I will.
Update: Rep. Dale Folwell's LA Renee Wimbush tells me it was the NCGA police, not the State Capitol police, who responded, so credit where it's due. Thanks, Renee!
