Update: Approps says okay

The Senate budget just made it through Approps.
Senior Chair Linda Garrou ran an omnibus amendment with a long list of changes - some technical, some substantive. Most notably, it gets rid of Rand's "one LEA per county" funding provision (section 7.24 in the draft bill). Somewhere, Martin Nesbitt is smiling. It also restores some funding for the Governor's School, Regional Economic Development Partnerships, and the DA's Conference.
Garrou says she hopes to have more details on the Finance package by next week. Rand adds they're still trying to figure out the details of the federal money.
Sen. Bob Rucho (R-Meck) protested that being asked to vote on the spending package before they know where the money's coming from is "buying a pig in a poke." But the majority bought it, anyway. It's headed to Commerce Pensions and Retirement next, and then to Finance, both this afternoon.
Update: referrals edited.
More later on the other amendments.
