Greensboro's Mark Binker reports State Sen. Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) has changed her mind again and *will* run against US Sen Elizabeth Dole. Hagan's campaign website - complete with video - is here.
Binker says Hagan told him her change of heart had nothing to do with the candidacy of Jim Neal. More on that here, and lots more at BlueNC, where Neal recently confirmed he's gay.
Hagan's press release also included kind words from former Gov Jim Hunt. That sure sounds like the official blessing of the party machine, but Hunt told Binker he's only speaking for himself as a longtime friend and supporter of the Greensboro Dem.
Beason on trial
Former top lobbyist Don Beason is on trial this morning on charges he waved a gun at people during a traffic dispute. Dome's posting regular updates.
Best story so far: Beason's attorney former State Rep Bob Hensley stands up for the First Amendment, successfully arguing to keep TV cameras in the courtroom. Thanks, Bob - we love you, too.
Faux news fallout
NPR reports FEMA has canned the PR mastermind who staged last week's fake press conference. When Michael Chertoff says it's the biggest mess he's ever seen, you know it's bad....More later - stay tuned...
