Thurs: Current cuts

The Governor's office has been sending around this list of cost-cutting measures state agencies say they've undertaken.

Highlights:

  • DOT has laid off 1200 temp workers
  • DOA is giving Capitol Police comp time in lieu of overtime pay
  • DCR cuts lawn maintenance, turns computers off at night

Perdue spokesman David Kochman says the Governor is confident the agencies are meeting their required cuts because the cuts have already been made in the agencies' monthly allotments.  In other words, it's not a question of waiting for agencies to send some money back. They're just not getting as much to start with.

More later on the fun and games at the Senate State Health Plan hearing.... stay tuned.
