Today's tops -
Lots of reactions to last night's speech by President Bush. Democratic Congressman David Price (NC-4) talked about it with WUNC's Morning Edition host Eric Hodge this morning.
Republican Congressman Walter Jones (NC-3) wasn't persuaded, either. He talked with Frank Stasio on today's State of Things. If you missed it , hear it here.
Under the premise that it's never too early to start the next election cycle, Justin Guillory's Public Policy Polling outfit released new data yesterday on state and national prospects for 2008. For a full rundown, check out Mark Binker's blog at the Greensboro News & Record.
In other state news - the legislature's pretty quiet today, with a lot of members out east at the funeral of Rep. Howard Hunter, who passed away this past weekend. But yesterday, the Mental Health Oversight committee meeting got a little cantankerous. WUNC Health Reporter Rose Hoban has a nice recap.
And one more political story I can't resist.... the Asheville Citizen Times reports that the zoning manager for the mountain resort town of Highlands, NC was caught with 369 pounds of marijuana. Wow.
