Speaking to the press after appearing at the Duke Water Forum today, Bev Perdue addressed the issue of recent negative ads by both her campaign and that of her Dem rival, Richard Moore.
"It's not personal," she said. "It's just politics... He wants to win, too. I intend to want it more, and I intend to win it."
Perdue also said she "deeply regrets" her 1993 quip equating a $200 tuition increase to "beer and party money" for college students. "I may have been thinking of my own son. He was at Carolina at the time... But it was unfair."
She says she wished she'd never said it, adding, "I didn't know I'd be running for governor now and it would be thrown back at me."
