Monday: Wright trial goes forward

The AP is reporting that Wake County Superior Court Judge Henry Hight has denied a defense request to postpone the former lawmaker's trial.
Wright's criminal defense attorney, Doug Harris, sought a delay because of all the negative publicity surrounding his client's expulsion from the state House earlier this month. The AP's Gary Robertson has more on that here.
Judge Hight did agree to a defense request to separate the obstruction of justice charge. That means this trial will only consider the four remaining felony fraud charges against Wright. Prosecutors can take up the other charge at a later date.
Update: Dome reports jury selection is already underway.
