Hat Check: US Senate
State Senator Kay Hagan says she's decided not to run against Elizabeth Dole in '08. She talked to Mark Binker about it this morning. The official press release is here.
Meantime, State Rep Grier Martin tells Dome he hopes to make his decision this week.
As I posted Saturday, both Hagan and Martin were hoping to avoid a primary battle. That got a little more complicated with Jim Neal's entry into the race. But Hagan's exit today gives Martin a little more breathing room ... if he decides he wants it.
