Monday: On deadline...

Not much time to write tonight – I’m crashing on three gubernatorial profiles (yes, Munger, too) after finishing up a story on the Hayes/Kissell race. Listen for that one tomorrow.
Tops of the day:
The NYT editorial board says NC's (almost) straight-ticket ballot system is seriously screwed up. Somewhere, Elections Director Gary Bartlett is smiling.
Obama’s coming to Raleigh Wednesday for a rally at the legislative complex. I owe Dome a dollar for betting he’d go to the Triad or Charlotte instead.
Former GOP contender Mike Huckabee is also coming to town Wednesday, campaigning for McCain. (Yes, you read that right. Bet it took a lot of dirt to bury that hatchet.) Related: WUNC’s Dave Dewitt is covering McCain’s Fayetteville rally tomorrow. Listen for it.
Red: the new black?
The punditocracy has suddenly decided en masse that Obama probably can’t win NC after all. Some polls agree, others not so much. Maybe we should vote on it. Oh, wait...
Related: WRAL reports 1 million NC voters have already cast their ballots - a percentage so high even CNN is talking about it.
Also related: Dome’s Ryan Teague Beckwith offers a helpful and entertaining tipsheet for national talking-head types covering the race here in NC.
Comments? Drop me a line.
