It’s raining tape
Tuesday’s shaping up to be one of those days where you need to be three places at once. Here’s a snapshot of the agenda:
- 8:30 – first Joint Approps meetings – in five rooms, only one of which is wired for sound. (And they want to televise this stuff? Maybe they could try audio first. Just sayin’.)
- 9:30 – Weekly Republican presser
- 10:30 – Young Dems presser with Holliman, Clodfelter, et al.
- 11:30 – Together NC (pro-"increased revenue") presser
- 12:00 – Fiscal briefing on Corrections
- 12:30 – Marriage Amendment presser
I’m sure I’m leaving out three or four other events, not to mention a solid dozen committee meetings. And then there’s session, of course, plus the unofficial budget briefings in 612. All of which is to say that if I don’t cover your story, trust me - it isn’t personal! I’ll have all the coverage I can throw together here tomorrow night.
DC to NC
Governor Bev Perdue is back tonight after a whirlwind trip to DC for the Governors’ meeting. Dome has full coverage, plus a nice pic of Perdue and the First Gent headed for Sunday night’s White House dinner. Check it out.
Isaac, we hardly knew ye
I was thrilled to get a link today to the most comprehensive article I’ve seen yet about this blog’s namesake, Isaac Hunter’s Tavern (an honest-to-God dive), and its slightly sketchy proprietor. (Some things never change.)
Seriously, it’s a great article, complete with pics – and kudos to historian Kate Pattison and the non-profit Raleigh Public Record for putting this sort of info on the Web. It’s about time someone did. This city has a fascinating history, and I’m delighted to see more of it showing up online. RPR even has a Facebook page and a Twitter feed, if you’re so inclined.
