Just heard that longtime former Insurance Commissioner Jim Long has been rushed to Rex Hospital after collapsing this afternoon at the Legislative Office Building. NCDOI spokeswoman Kristin Milam confirmed that Long was on his way to the Beach Insurance Committee meeting after stopping in to have lunch with his former staffers.
Not much is known about Long's condition at this point, but the word in the building is that it looked serious. His wife is reportedly rushing back from a trip to Atlanta to be with him.
