Easley: Budget is "gutsy"

Governor Mike Easley was quick to weigh in on today's budget votes by the House and Senate. Here's his 3pm press release :
“This is a gutsy and aggressive budget that finally fulfills our historic promise to all people that they can achieve their dream of going from pre-kindergarten through college debt free. It is a truly transformational document that allows North Carolina to emerge as the nation's clear leader in facing the educational challenge of the 21st century. I commend this legislature for their vision and courage.”
Well, of course he likes it - as far as I can tell, Easley left the table with pretty much everything he asked for...his EARN scholarships, expansion of More at Four, lottery flexibility, etc.
