The Back Porch Music - On the Lawn Concert Series at American Tobacco 2010 runs March - October with 10 shows at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.

All Back Porch Music concerts in this series are free and held outdoors (weather permitting). Announcements will be made on-air and via twitter if rain cancels an event. Friday April 30 - Raleigh based Chatham County Line is fast becoming one of the most important acoustic bands in America. They approach bluegrass with an infectious pop sensibility that is engaging audiences across America and in Europe. The band’s latest CD is scheduled for release early this summer.
Friday June 4 - Uncle Earl is an all-women-band who play high energy old time music. Their last CD, Waterloo, Tennessee was produced by John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame.
Friday June 18- Kickin’ Grass are a North Carolina based bluegrass band who use traditional instruments to deliver original material in a rootsy, Americana style that leaves audiences wanting more.
Friday July 30 - Laura Boosinger is one of the most respected traditional singers from the North Carolina Mountains. Together with multi-instrumentalist Josh Goforth and band they provide a fresh take on traditional music from Appalachia.
Friday August 13 - Stillhouse Bottom Band describes itself as an old-time band, playing acoustic music with deep roots in rural North Carolina tradition, but they also mix in some bluegrass, classic country and even a little pop and jazz. The band has been included in WUNC’s Best of Back Porch Music CD series.
Friday August 20 - Acclaimed songwriter Thad Cockrell grew up on Southern Gospel music but honed his taste for pure country music by listening to Merle Haggard and George Jones. Cockrell has been a fixture on the roots Americana scene for years and now splits his time between Raleigh and Nashville.
Friday September 10 - The Gravy Boys are from North Carolina and perform Acoustic Americana music, drawing deep from the well of our country’s diverse musical heritage. Music from their first two CDs has been featured on WUNC’s Back Porch Music radio program.
Friday September 17 - For WUNC listeners, Paul Brown is the NPR Newscaster who wakes them up each day on Morning Edition. For fans of traditional music, Paul is a world class banjo and fiddle player who specializes in old time Appalachian dance tunes. Paul Brown and the Mostly Mountain Boys will be joined by a clogging team. (Video is Paul in the circle at Clifftop (Appalachian String Band Festival))
Friday October 8 - The Music Maker Relief Foundation close out our concert series with an all-star concert featuring a who’s who of blues musicians from the Piedmont of North Carolina. Musicians would include: Cool John Ferguson (featured in video clip), Big Ron Hunter, Captain Luke, Whistlin' Britches, Bubba Norwood, John Dee Holeman, Boo Hanks, George Higgs, Tad Walters.
