This week in North Carolina politics, Democratic Governor Roy Cooper introduced his budget proposal. It recommends 5.1 percent growth in state spending; raises for teachers, principals and state employees; and calls on the Legislature to expand Medicaid.
Also, Larry Hall stopped by the General Assembly for a confirmation hearing. This came a week after he was subpoenaed to do so.
And lawmakers came together to file a brunch bill. If passed, it would allow North Carolina restaurants to serve alcoholic drinks before noon on Sunday mornings.
Becki Gray, of the John Locke Foundation, and Rob Schofield, of NC Policy Watch, join WUNC's Jeff Tiberii to discuss the week's news.
