Occupy Raleigh Protest on Saturday
Protesters who say they're concerned about corporate greed and social inequality plan to gather at Raleigh's old state capitol grounds tomorrow.
Organizers of the event called "Occupy Raleigh" say so far about 700 people have committed to participate on Saturday morning. Organizer Stacie Borrello believes the gathering and others like it in cities across the country are meant to encourage people to advocate for positive change.
Stacie Borrello: "With the disproportionate influence that corporations have in our political process, we've been waiting for something to happen, I mean just a spark that is now turning into a national movement."
Borrello says there will be speakers and bands participating in Occupy Raleigh. She says the event isn't backed by any national organizations or major donors.
