WUNC is in the midst of a yearlong examination of what it's like to be an educator, called the North Carolina Teacher Project. This week, we're returning to the My Teacher series, exploring what it takes to make a connection in the classroom by asking students to interview their teachers.
Cameron McNeill is a senior at Riverside High School in Durham, where Steven Unruhe teaches math and advises students who write for the school paper. Cameron and his three siblings have all taken calculus with Mr. Unruhe and they have all been managing editors for the newspaper in the last 14 years.
Cameron will be the last of the McNeill children to leave Mr. Unruhe's class. He talked with his teacher about what it's like to live up to his siblings' legacies and the end of his family's time at Riverside.
Cameron's conversation with Steven Unruhe is part of WUNC's My Teacher series. It's also a part of American Graduate-Let’s Make it Happen!- a public media initiative to address the drop out crisis, supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
