Joblessness From The Mountains To The Coast

Latest numbers show – the North Carolina unemployment rate has increased in every corner of the state.

Davie County stands alone. It’s the only county in the state whose unemployment rate didn’t go up during the month of November – it remained the same at 8-point-9-percent.  The county with the biggest increase – Graham County. Graham County jumped almost 6-and-a-half points – to 18-point-6-percent. That’s the highest in the state.  Orange County has the lowest jobless rate – just under 6-percent.   Numbers from the Employment Security Commission show 441-thousand people were unemployed this past November – about 30-thousand more than the month before.
