Garner to Welcome Home American Idol Finalist
The Town of Garner is getting ready to welcome home "American Idol" finalist Scotty McCreery. Jeremy Loeb reports.
The 17-year-old baritone advanced to the "Final 3" of the television show "American Idol" last night. McCreery has been wowing audiences with his mature, deep-voiced renditions of country classics. Mayor Ronnie Williams called the singer's success the biggest thing that's ever happened to Garner.
Ronnie Williams: "What we're dealing with with this young, talented, outstanding young man Scotty McCreery has given us national and even international attention. So we're proud of Scotty and we're going to have a good celebration."
The town will host a parade and concert for the young singer tomorrow from 2 to 4 at Lake Benson Park. "American Idol" tv crews will be on hand to film the event for the show. The Garner High baseball player should also feel at home throwing the first pitch at an N-C State baseball game tomorrow night.
