Duke's Derryck Thornton reacts following Duke's 74-73 win over North Carolina in an NCAA college basketball game in Chapel Hill, N.C., Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016.

In men's college basketball, last night's Carolina-Duke game lived up to all the pre-game hype.

After leading for most of the game, the Tar Heels lost to the Blue Devils in the final minutes, 74-to-73.

Carolina Coach Roy Williams says the loss is a tough pill to swallow.

"We had a wonderful crowd, great crowd. We had a great bunch of kids that really wanted... something badly. And we just have to congratulate Duke and give them a great deal of credit."

Grayson Allen scored 23 points, hitting a pair of free throws with 1:09 left. But the outcome hung in the balance until Derryck Thornton blocked Joel Berry II's shot in the lane on the final play to secure Duke's 20th win.

The Tar Heels fell to 21-5 despite Brice Johnson's 29 points and 19 rebounds.

The two teams play in Durham March 5th.
