'Canes Not Tough Enough in Home Opener

The Carolina Hurricanes remain winless after their home opener.  The 'Canes fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Raleigh Tuesday night, 4-1.  Jeff Skinner scored the only goal for Carolina during a power play in the second period.  But Tampa Bay put the game away in the third with two goals on Cam Ward.  The 'Canes goalie has allowed nine goals in his first two games this season.  Coach Kirk Muller says the team is still working on its chemistry.

"We need a couple more guys to raise their game by just 5 percent and it makes a huge difference.  Again, just like the last game, we'll dwell on the good stuff and push that stuff, but in a few of the other areas, we've got to be a tougher team to play against."

The 'Canes quickly have another opportunity for their first win.  Carolina is at home again Thursday night against the Buffalo Sabres.
