3, 2, 1... Happy New Year!!!
New Year's Eve festivities are scheduled to take place all across North Carolina beginning this afternoon and extending into the early morning hours. There's everything from a pickle drop in Mount Olive to a bluegrass concert at Garner's Historic Auditorium. In the state capitol, First Night Raleigh activities begin at 2pm with a series of events for kids including a parade.
Rebecca Rolfe helps organize First Night. She says music will rock in the New Year:
"We are so excited to have Donna The Buffalo on the main stage then Tropic Culture who's a really cool world fusion band and then we've got North Carolina native Holy Ghost Tent Revival."
Rolfe says parking is available throughout downtown Raleigh. She says a forecast for warmer than normal temperatures should bring more people to the celebration.
