Interim Managing Editor, The State of Things
Katy Barron joined The State Of Things in February 2006. After graduating from Davidson College she began a career in corporate consulting, which she quickly abandoned for the much less lucrative reporting life. She spent four years at The National Journal Group in Washington D.C., covering the executive branch for Government Executive magazine's web site, GovExec.com. She did a brief stint as a Texan from 2002-2005, working as an online producer, columnist and features reporter for the Austin American-Statesman. She returned to her native North Carolina in 2005. The last time she was employed in the Triangle, she was in charge of putting croutons on salads and adding cheese to chili at Spanky’s on Franklin Street, also known as down expediting. She thinks this job is slightly more rewarding.
