Connie Walker is News Director at WUNC, where she oversees the station's reporting staff of 12. She is also President of Public Radio News Directors Incorporated, a national organization that sponsors conferences and training for public radio journalists. Connie worked previously at Wisconsin Public Radio, where she moved from reporting jobs at bureau locations, to state host of All Things Considered in Madison, then on to News Director of the statewide network. She was News Director at WPR for nine years before deciding the weather is much better in North Carolina. Connie has also worked for several commercial radio stations in Wisconsin. She first started working in radio when she was 16 years old. Connie's work has been recognized by numerous journalism organizations, including PRNDI, The Associated Press, the Milwaukee Press Club, The Radio and Television News Directors Association and the Northwest Broadcast News Association. Connie's hobbies include living up to her name by walking a lot, making home improvements and collecting antiques, which include two pianos.Reports and features by Connie Walker
