What exactly is a podcast?
A "podcast" allows you to automatically receive the most recent audio from WUNC' s programs -- on-demand -- delivered to your computer or to your mp3 player (iPod, etc.). In essence, a podcast is a way of subscribing to audio files on the internet. Podcasts, generally, are periodically updated audio files that are automatically delivered to your computer. Many current browsers have native support for XML type files (podcasts) but on older browsers, clicking on a XML will display raw code that looks like raw code or gibberish to most people.
Here are two of the many ways to get started listening to these podcasts:
When you look through our site with your browser, find and click on the
icon and copy the http:// reference into your favorite news reader or podcatching application.
[Please note: WUNC no longer supports the legacy Pubcatcher. If you downloaded it from our web site in the past, you may leave it installed on your computer (though it will no longer function), or if you prefer, you may uninstall it. Please also note that uninstalling the Pubcatcher may also delete the podcasts you downloaded with that client. In order to continue to download and play our podcasts, you'll need one of the many podcast players available (e.g. iTunes). You will also have to subscribe to the podcasts again usinig your choice player/download agent.]
